Marketing Translation

Marketing translations require great care since everything must be precise. Emotion is very important to bringing forth your message; you want a translation that will be able to convey it properly. Misleading and incorrect information is attributed to a lack of knowledge of today's culture. Misleading information can make the translated product even more confusing and unable to be understood.

Culture Sensitivity

Marketing is culture sensitive work and to correctly translate and convey the correct meaning of the words used is a difficult and sensitive task. Every culture has its own meanings for each symbol and word that is used. This idea must first be considered and studied before you can correctly translate the terms.

Conveying the Right Meaning & Emotion

Marketing translation requires much more than just simply translating words. It, also, takes more than just the ability to read and write in a foreign language. A person who has lived, breathed the culture, and knows the ins and outs of the region is the perfect candidate to translate the required material. This person will be able to demonstrate the right emotion and motivate the customer to take action.

Also, they will have a wide range of cultural knowledge to fill in all necessary gaps in the language barrier. A translator with the right background will be able to interpret the marketing material with a natural and easy flow that appeals to your customers.

Translating a term exactly can lead to disaster in the marketing field. One of the most famous faux pas that has been committed is the Dairy Association's translation of the famous "Got Milk?" slogan. It translated in Spanish as "Are You Lactating?" Another Spanish marketing fiasco was not renaming the Chevy Nova when it was marketed in Spanish speaking cultures; in Spanish Nova means "no go".
