Canada has the most notable non-French French-speaking population, with Quebecois French having evolved to become its own dialect. It is also seen somewhat commonly in the north central US, where Voyageurs were among the first European explorers.

This language is imperative for any business that engages in international trade of any kind. It is also among the official languages of the United Nations. If you have a passport, it likely has French on it, as it will be understood in most places around the world. It is a popular language even among those who don't use it to communicate regularly, and it's fairly light use of accents and other special characters makes it ideal for web pages. It is among the standard languages of science, as well.
